Sigh one of the first really good Alucard figures and of course they make it only 400 piece run at an insane price.

A7xMad (28 days ago) #33250799geralt is not any larger at all lol. And yes prime 1 is a lot cheaper than this because they are giving you a bigger one that costs even less. So you have two factors here. The price and the size. The price should be more if you were to go with this company's logic right now, that means it is infact cheaper. Secondly the detail on Geralt's prime 1 is way better than this, and Alucard looks so small on this piece it's hilarious that they are asking for all of that. A lot of people are judging how bad the paint job looks like + the small size of this figure is really is a shame, this is hardly a 1/6 scale of Alucard. I know what i am talking about because I have Geralt sitting in a glass cabinet. This would be epic if it was floating around 300USD maybe, but for that price it's trash.

I just meant the overall size of both figures are 26", so same size overall (I do think Geralt himself is larger than Alucard himself though...as otherwise the Alucard figure would have to be larger than 26" - that's all I meant, not sure if maybe I said it wrong or something, sorry if I did). I can't speak to the level of detail on either, since I don't own Geralt and Alucard hasn't been released yet (but he looks great to me, if...they fix his face :D). ....but my own opinion is that the Alucard figure is way more elaborate (there are like 4 other people in it, the hellhound/blood demon, etc...), even if Alucard himself ends up more a 1/5 to 1/6 scale, then I'm still good with that for what all the statue has in it. Heck yeah, I wish it were cheaper (but there's not a single figure I own that I wish I couldn't have got for a cheaper price...if someone wants to give me free figures, I'm down too), but in contrast, I also think the Geralt one is overpriced since they have other figures of the same size at a $400-$600 price point all day long (perhaps his finer details are better or it has to do with the # being made, not sure what drives such changes from the same manufacturer for figures of the same size...the base perhaps???..either way I wasn't willing to pull the trigger on Geralt even though I LOVE him, but was for Alucard, so my preference is apparent).

It's ok if you think the Alucard figure is trash and only worth $300 (I'm not saying you're wrong, because it's just your opinion...we each have our own opinion and can choose to buy it or not, right), but I obviously think he is worth >$800 though, hence why I PO'd it.

I will try to share some pics when it comes in though so all of us on MFC can all see the real detail on the delivered figure. I have high hopes though, but this is also my first Figurama figure, so nothing really to go on.

Stacycmc (1 month ago) #32893020Well, I guess if you like most of Prime 1's subject matter you may have options....
One of the few Prime 1 figures I'd even be remotely interested in is Geralt, which is the same size as this (like 26" in height - given Geralt himself may be larger, but there is also a LOT less going on and it's just less elaborate) and the figure is $769 so that makes it like $36 cheaper than this one (anyone pre-ordering could use the $40 off coupon to get this figure down to $805). I am a HUGE Witcher 3 fan, but if I'm going to spend $800 either way, I'd rather have this as it is just seems way more epic to me.
I get it though, if you like Marvel stuff, yeah they have options of similar or larger figures for the same or less, but I could care less about those....so for me, it's just not the case at all.

Tbh I always go by comparison and by the piece as a whole, not the size of the character alone (unless like if they have a base that makes the whole piece larger like this). I have a couple larger figures that range between 1/6 - 1/4 and it looks to me like he is 1/4. Comparing these 1/6 scales that I have ITEM #178425 ITEM #278026 to a 1/4 I have (13inches) ITEM #61595 I feel Alucard does fall in the 1/4 range from his own height and then the piece as a whole. I think 1/6 is too small for him. But I mean the whole piece is 26 inches and overall the diameter is 20inches; he's a massive piece and I'm pretty satisfied with his size and the components for the price. I just have to worry about the face for now v_v
edit: and yeah it can vary by company. I'm not sweating it too much since we knew the dimensions beforehand - I don't really care what the "true" scale of his size is honestly, I was already impressed by the piece overall and the size before anyways.

Yeah I mean for me, the problem is with "scales". They just vary too much...so for me they are more like a general guideline of what to expect, but in NO WAY give you anything exact like a measurement would.

For me too, if someone tells me the full height of a figure (base and extras included)...I can figure out true scale from that and directly compare it to my other figures. As long as they can supply me an accurate measurement for the dimensions, I can figure out if he is a similar size much more accurately than them just stating "1/4 scale"...not to mention no one really owns any of their stuff yet, so their "1/4 scales" may be a wee bit smaller than say Prime 1's 1/4 scales. I will also note however that even this site gets the measurements /dimensions wrong (i.e. I have figures that are both list here that as 260mm, yet one is CLEARLY smaller or larger - so that's why I say accurate measurements are important - and not blaming that on MFC, as I'm sure it was just wrong wherever they got that info from).

BUT, to me...even in the case of a diorama and not just a figure, I can more accurately tell a figure's size by the provided measurements than I can some opinionated and greatly varied interpretation of scale. If I have a picture of the figure and the measurements, I can back into the character's actual size to know what scale "I" would actually consider them...which may or may not be what it is actually labeled as.

Oh well, I'm for sure happy with my pre-order, just need to keep praying to the figure gods the final version's face comes out right...as that is my ONLY concern right now.

Stacycmc (2 months ago) #31286602I'll say with confidence though, that he's too big to be 1/6 scale.....a 1/6 is around 12" and with his current pose he is 14.4" already, and he's not even standing straight (so he's even larger than that in reality). He is a 1/5 or fairly small 1/4 (by normal standards 1/5 is where I would put him, but with scales things can vary - i.e. a 1/6 scale Play Arts Kai figure is about 10" (which is what a 1/7 scale is listed at, so if they asked me what I'd label them as I'd definitely suggest they label them 1/7...yet they didn't ask me and are universally accepted to be 1/6 scales) then you have a 1/6 RAH figure which is 12"). So, if I'm ok moving forward with that, I really am ok if they want to call this Alucard figure 1/4 versus my gut of 1/5...that happens all the time in the figure world.
I'm happy with a 26.13" figure where he himself is 14.4" with his current pose, so have no concerns at all regarding size nor what scale they want to bucket him into. Also, initially, before any definite details were released, mentioned him to be 1/4, but as soon as they had the ACTUAL measurements, they removed the scale reference and just listed the true dimensions. I don't think there is any trickery here at all...they provided their fans with these measurements WELL in advance of the pre-order, so people could decide on their own if they wanted a 26.3" figure of Alucard or not. It's not like they hid the measurements until after folks pulled the trigger.
I admit if they want to make it bigger, I have no objections whatsoever, but as it their measurements fall in between a 1/4 and 1/5, and in many other cases figure companies have no issues stating their figure as the larger scale in those examples, so I certainly won't get mad at these guys for guessing it would fall in that range, then removing the guesswork later to provide the true measurements.

Youre right its probably more 1/5. Still they announced twice that it was 1/4 scale. Its listed in their google mobile website description as 1/4. And all of their distributers have listed it and are still selling it as 1/4 scale. They should have addressed the scale issue right away and they still haven't. Listing the actual dimensions after having told the world its 1/4 is a bit like comparing a circle to the color blue- it has nothing to do with scale. I dont think they were trying to be dishonest. However handling the situation by saying its the buyers fault is really the wrong thing to do in this situation. All signs point to awesome for this statue but I think where any fallout is concerned they really have to blame themselves for that one.
