I strongly dislike using DHL, Fedex, etc (because of their high rates, but also for other reasons), so I won't use them unless forced to. And while this hobby is a great teacher of patience, so time isn't much of an issue for me, I don't particularly trust surface shipping - I've heard too many stories of lost packages. Who knows, though, maybe I'll try it; I guess I could test the waters (ha) with some relatively inexpensive model kit.

Totally understand, the private shippers are expensive, and that's on top of figures that are already getting more expensive every year. I've never lost an item with surface, but I definitely have heard stories from others who wernt so lucky. I've never actually used FedEx to ship Japanese goods before so I can't comment on them, but I've used DHL plenty of times, and aside from the price, have never had an issue.

Silvery just an earth-bound misfit
DC011810 months ago#77678528Any outfit that offers a private shipping option should still function; DHL, FedEx, etc. These do tend to be pricey, so the choice is still yours of course. Postal service hitches rides on commercial flights, which are basically nonexistent at the moment, private shipping companies have their own planes, so theoretically they should stay operational throughout the pandemic. Surface mail via ships still operates as well if offered, its slow as he'll, but better than nothing and it's not expensive. So there are some options left. I don't blame you if you don't want to use them though. I probably will.
