I hope a female super hero also gets a similar treatment in the future! I was really surprised actually, I thought they would have him suddenly get fit or something stupid for the action scenes, but I'm glad they didn't. Proof that charas can look cool and badass regardless of body type (and chubby Thor is just as cute as fit Thor <3)
I also didn't like how they portrayed Thor's depression, I feel they were using it for comedy purposes.
And as a personal note I really loved Thor's development in Ragnarok, and the Russo Brothers totally screwed that on Endgame. Honestly I'd be more surprised if it had been a female character. We get male chubby characters all the time (Roadhog from Overwatch for example), but a female one?
Very interesting points of view, both of you. :) Me too I'm glad Thor's chubby apparence was conserved for realistic purpose. If a third Gardians of galaxy is released, I wonder what he'll look like. And in Thor Love and thunder too.
Indeed, I'm not sure they would use chubby heroines in films and series... Although I think we could find some. In the Ghostbusters (new gen), I think. Indeed, Thor's depression was more presented in a comedy like way. Well, I dont think they would have intended it to be serious as Joker is, but I understand what you mean.

I was surprised they would present Thor in such an apparence in the movie, but at the same time pleased. Breaking the image of the fit manly heroic figure. Im curious : What do you think of his chubby apparence, and the ideals of beauty in general, for men, in society ?
