Elise_Grimwald1 month ago#89970190Eventually. I put dryer sheets in any boxes that smell musty, and it seems to go away eventually. I don't think Kyoko's box is musty at all anymore (I'd have to check), but I don't remember if I put dryer sheets in it or if it went away on its own. Kyoko herself didn't have a smell at all, so it must have been minor. I did have a different figure (and box) with a really bad musty odor though, and putting a few dryer sheets in the box for a few weeks did work in that case. I think I left them in there to be on the safe side, but it's usually OK within a week or so. I hear baking soda works for that too, but I'm not sure how it'd go in a box without ruining it.

I am going to try the dryer sheets then. I got an Alter Oshino Shinobu from AmiAmi this past week and her box had that musty old basement smell as well and as far as I can tell she herself doesn't have it and if she does it's extremely minor. The box is what is housing the smell for sure, I'm sure it was just picked up in AmiAmi's warehouse if yours also came like that. Thanks for the response!

Elise_Grimwald6 months ago#82224808I finally broke down and bought her from AmiAmi, b/b condition. I don't see why, as she looks new, as does her box.
But the box has a musty smell. :/. Hopefully it doesn't stay around and linger on her.
At any rate, she looks great, and she's certainly worth her price :).
