Comments Xenoblade 2 - Hikari - 1/7 (Good Smile Company)

  • Demigod_Dan14 days ago#95102298Also I highly doubt that because the real crime here is the fact that Pyra / Mythra have only received 1 figure each despite being 2 of some of the most popular characters in video game / anime history. Meanwhile a stupid amount of different Rem and Yumi figures to name a few are being produced, so no, GSC isn't doing anything against the scalpers; they are being lazy and cashing in on demand.
If they truly 'cared', then they would make completely new Pyra/Mythra figures. That does something against scalpers too, because then demand would be spread out instead of 100% focused on the same figure. Heck, if those new figures would be better then the people who would be fortunate enough to place an order for those could say "hah, take that scalpers!" as well. Instead, now we will have a "super duper limited ultra special exclusive figure" that everyone and their mom will own. Whoop de doo.

I totally agree with this but thought I was just being a gatekeeper or something. As a Xenoblade fan who had to practically sell my kidneys just to get these two figures pre-owned it's frustrating they got multiple pre-order waves after their Smash announcement. I mean Xenoblade fans had to bend over backwards just to get the first rerelease and let's be honest it was only originally rereleased cause Xenoblade Definitive Edition was announced. If GSC really wanted to celebrate their inclusion in Smash they could've made some nendoroids for them or scales of their new alternate costumes instead. But instead they rerelease the "limited production" product for the 3rd time and when stock dries up they decide to offer more "limited production ;)" for the following year.

That being said, I'm happy for anyone here who was only able to get them due to this. I'm just disappointed with GSC and hope they actually do make some other figures for these two rather than rereleasing them every time something happens with Xenoblade.

I’m among the first if it comes to criticise companies but in this case I don’t think GSC is driven by greed or is scamming anybody. They have other projects to care about too but still they are doing their best to fulfil people’s demands and giving some greedy scalper clowns a hard time.

Klon14 days ago#95102261Excuse me if my comment may sound a little harsh, but I wouldn’t be surprised if such a comment comes from a new collector. You on the other hand are around since a couple of years already.

What do you mean since a couple of years? I have been collecting for 20+ years, it's only a recent trend that companies started to 'change the rules' regarding products dubbed as limited editions.

You can look at a bunch of comment sections of other figures ever since the existence of MFC; the general consensus has always been "Don't pay off the scalpers, it's a Standard release so it could get re-released" whereas people would say "Best to order now since it's Limited/Exclusive so won't get re-released". And that has always been true for other entertainment goods as well, reaching far beyond just figures.

To be clear, the official ruling / the way 'Limited' is understood is "limited production, no more beyond that # made" instead of "limited production, more made until everyone and their mom has one due to demand for it".

Demigod_Dan14 days ago#95102215Remind me why this is "Limited + Exclusive" with this many re-releases and the meaning of "Limited + Exclusive" / why it should be taken seriously at this point. Just index it as Standard to stick it to GSC for not valuing the 'sacred' difference between Standard and Limited I say. Literally scamming the customers with bait and switch in favor of greed.

    1. The term “Limited” doesn’t fit to items of mass production in the first place and should be threated as a marketing strategy. That said “Limited” in this case means that GSC will open pre-orders until a certain amount of copies are sold, not within a fixed timeframe.

    2. Exclusive doesn’t mean something like “exclusive for you”. It always means sold on one or more certain events or stores. As far as I know you still can’t pre-order theses figures on HLJ ors Hobbysearch for example.
