Dribz (7 days ago) #30891896Having ordered figures from Amazon a couple of times, as well as knowing others who have, I would be extremely shy of trusting them with this kind of figure. Amazon doesn't really take the time to identify what is an expensive collectible vs. a toy, so their packaging is going to be lackluster and prone to more damage. Whereas a hobby shop like HLJ is familiar with the value of what it is they're shipping and so they're going to take the appropriate measures to ensure that it gets to you as safely and securely as possible.
Granted, I'm talking American Amazon, and I don't know how different Amazon JP is, but that's my two cents. Guess it's up to you if the cheap shipping is worth the higher chance of damage.
Also, I hate DHL and wouldn't trust them with shipping me a piece of paper, let alone a figure worth almost $200...

Actually fully agree with this figure being the one in question. DHL has sent me car parts in the past (fender, bumper). And by the time I got them the wrecked parts on the car were in better shape than the new ones.

Amazon.jp normally just shrink wraps a piece of cardboard to the figure box and fits it into the shipping box. No padding at all in all my cases. Basically use them as a somewhat last resort.

Fatal_Futanari (8 days ago) #30891830How is Amazon.jp with their figure shipping? She is on there and has cheap shipping to the US. Thinking about dropping my HLJ preorder and getting her from there.

I've gotten 4 figures and a bunch of wall scrolls there.
DHL tends to be the shipper and I enjoy that because I don't have to deal with missed delivery slips from the post office. However the boxes from amazon.jp tend to be thin and one of my boxes got smashed pretty good, damaging the figure box but not the figure.
