About this picture

Landscape version: PICTURE #1612381

Hand-built diorama setup for Master Artoria, which is taken outdoors for the photography process. Set somewhere in Japan, at a bus stop outside of a dojo in the evening during autumn, to mark the start of the fall season this month. Shot with Nikon D5200 and Sigma F1.4 50mm EX DG HSM lens.

Despite being "somewhere in Japan" the mailbox and the fencing aren't exactly Japanese. It's an indirect homage to fate/stay night, which Saber was a warrior/king of Britain, but was summoned to the existing modern world in Japan as a servant, using this concept itself i purposely mix and matched japanese with western elements. The mail box is not visible in most of the photos anyway, i placed it there simply because it looked a bit empty.

Figureditout1 year ago#59258513It's incredible that you build this for your figure. I don't know how you do that, since I'm completely talent free when it comes to modelling things, but the amount of imagination you poured into this diorama leaves me stunned. Especially those tiny add posters and bus schedule omfg!

Thank you very much.
It's indeed true that I'm good at imagination (or shall we call it chuunibyou), and I can't teach people how to imagine. But all those little details come from being an observant person in general. I observe my surroundings a lot in real life when I'm outside, I pay attention to everything.

The anime I watch, I capture lots of screen shots and save them for references, and I store lots of digital artwork in my pc. Imagination only gives you a rough picture, you still need inspirations for the smaller details. You need references. If I want to build a bus stop, I would Google for real life pictures of bus stops in Japan to get an idea.
