I really enjoy a lot of the older anime like Noir, Azamanga Daioh, Evangelion, Starblazers, Gunsmith Cats - there are so many older gems. Even the first Fate series. I’m watching Suzuka at the moment.

The first anime series I watched was Starblazers way back in 1979 and I’ve been mesmerised ever since.

I feel there could have be wrap up movie for Gunslinger Girl that based on the Petra story arc from manga. Yeah, Pinocchio was a kick ass character. Claes is my favourite.

momo-san7 days ago#101047460snipThank you. That's great advice. I hope to see you and the modifiers and repairers more often.

Gunslinger Girls was one of my first anime and manga. Back when Funimation was new to the anime business and ADV was still around, in a time where there were very few anime available in the US (as you probably already know). I still have all my DVDs and wallscrolls from it's heyday. It's sad that it's one of the many "older" anime that's faded into obscurity; no one really talks about it anymore and I don't see many younger fans. But you can definitely use it to draw out anime and manga fans from the mid 2000s. They eyezoom in on it and snap up merchandise, regardless of the cost. (´ ω `♡)

I am sad that there's not many prepainted figures of Gunslinger Girl. Would had loved one of Pinocchio, too, but that's even more of a pipe dream than one of the other girls since that's a male antagonist. But I'm impressed by the quality of the ones that are available. Some other figures from anime of the same time period look like stereotypical "old" figures.

Hello BlindngAwsmnss

You may be surprised that there are a few of us figure repairers around. As long as your satisfied with the results of your repair work that’s what really counts. (And the rejuvenated figure will thank you for the work done.)

I’ve been a scale modeller for a very long time and some of the ‘skills’ from playing with plastic kits transfer to tidying up figures. Yuki certainly came up well. For my rebuilds (not that I have done many) I usually make up a new base and paint it according to eye or hair colour. Some bases that have come with the figure I have reinforced with clear resin to add strength and weight to the base.

In most rebuilds I try and obtain a finish that is comparable to the original. In Yuki’s case her legs/shoes and head were left as per original. I removed the bunny ears and was able to reduce her to component form. These parts were sprayed with oven cleaner and left for a few days in a sealed plastic bag. This helped remove all the plasticized paint and cleaned her skin up a treat.

I used Tamiya aerosol paint. For areas to be painted I used Tamiya Extra Fine White Primer then used a Pearl White on the ears and bunny costume. Glues I use are slow curing epoxy for joining major body parts and Loctite 406 (like a superglue) for attaching smaller parts like the ears.

I usually brush paint and I do have an airbrush which I’ve never got around to using. But I also use a reasonable amount of aerosol. Most repair work I’ve done is with reinforcing figure ankles/legs and supplying the figure with a solid base.

If I may offer a suggestion for dusting on a clear sealer on Triela. I’m not sure whether you would airbrush or use an aerosol but if using an aerosol read carefully as some clear cotes to yellow with age if applied to painted surfaces. Have you anything to practice on first to test results? I’m not too concerned about the curve in Triela’s shotgun. I can live with that.

Triela is a great figure. I’m surprised just how many times people have looked at my figures and singled her out. It’s uncanny. Are you a fan of Gunslinger Girl anime/manga? It’s a great story. I wish there was a comparable figure for her room mate Claes.

I hope what I’ve tried to explain makes sense. You’re enjoying your figures in your own unique way by customizing and that’s great. I hope you’ll post a picture of Triela when done, I’d like to see that.

Take care, all the best, cheers

I'm curious as to what modifications you've done to your Triela figure ITEM #13765
The only issue I've got with my Triela figure is her shotgun has a slight curve in it but I haven't been too concerned to correct that.
Myself, I'm always on the lookout for damaged figures and take pleasure in giving them a new lease of life. The last one I did was this Yuki Nagato figure picture/2769875...

Hello!

Happy to meet another figure modifier/repairer! It seems a person like that is so rare. I thought a hobby like this would be full of them. I still feel like an amateur when it comes to modifications and repairs, but I enjoy the challenge nonetheless. And I get a customized figure in the end.

Your Yuki looks great! I love your choice for her base, and she's not leaning at all. And the ears don't look repainted. Do you hand brush or air brush? And did you completely separate the ears before painting or just masked everything?

Triela's still a work in progress. She should have been done by now, but I just did a renovation of my office, so she (and Altair) have been put on hold for a month. Triela's made fairly well, so there's not much work to be done. She has a nice base that she's attached to well, and luckily she didn't come with many issues like plasticizer or bent parts. I'm in the process of strengthening and tightening the section between her legs and torso (since they come apart). And, as you probably know, her jacket scuffs really easily. I'm considering if I want to fix some scuffs and put a sealant on it to prevent future scuffs, but I'm really on the fence about it right now. It's high risk, low reward.

The curve to your Triela's shotgun might be able to be corrected with the hot water method. Not sure if you've tried that. The only risk I imagine is not bending it into shape correctly and making it worse or accidentally bending another part.

Thanks for taking the time to reach out to me! :)
