LuminaMagi (11 months ago) #29687103Naelyth (11 months ago) #29685113Hi! I got an itabag but there was some text on the clear plastic that I didn't want, so I managed to remove it with nail polish remover. However, the plastic is now a little cloudy--I don't think there's any more paint, I've already done a few extra wipes with the nail polish remover. Is there a way to restore its transparency? I thought I remembered reading a guide about it online somewhere but now I can't find it. :(
Did the nail polish remover contain acetone? If so, it may have damaged the plastic, in which case I'm not sure there's any way to fix it. :(

Oh no!! I checked the ingredients and the first one listed is acetone. ;A; I looked up a few guides to be sure before I did it, but I didn't see anyone saying to not use acetone--they just said use nail polish remover. Now I'm sad. :( Thank you for letting me know though!! I never would've guessed on my own!

Hey all, I've got a couple questions. One, how does dust effect the price of a figure if i'm trying to sell it? I still don't have a tool to properly clean my figures (I do wipe the dust off with a soft cloth from time to time) and my shelf gets pretty dusty. Am considering selling and i'm not really sure how much I should dock off the price. The figure in question is Alphamax's Hiei, which is particularly difficult to clean because of the dragon. The other question is, well, how do I price it? Seems to be somewhat hard to find and the only ones I can find for sale are at insane prices. I feel like those are just bloated and overpriced, but i'm not entirely sure.

Gonna move backwards here,

In order to price things you should look at AmiAmi - Mandarake - Suruga-ya to get a decent average of what the figure goes for on the aftermarket. Don't bother using any of the MFC partner shop prices or eBay, as all those prices are bloated and won't sell.

As for dusting, the best tool for dusting is the Tamiya anti-static brush. In a pinch, a makeup brush with soft bristles works well. But also, washing the figure under warm (not hot) water is safe to clean it.
Figures get big knockdowns in price if parts are damaged or missing. For something that can be fixed like dust, I wouldn't knock down the price very much.

- not that I was obsessed with it, I just needed to get it -

Hello, I'm quite new here. This is my first figurine ever (and it's might be the last one, since I'm not that a big fan of collecting stuffs). I place my figurine in around North East, and is exposed to sunlight, but with a curtain to block some. After reading a lot of articles about placing the figurine where the sunlight is in contact, I'm quite aware that it'll ruin my figurine. So can anyone tell me is it ok to place the figurine where sunlight (some get blocked by the curtain) can get in in the morning? My curtains aren't black out, but it can block some of the light. I'm in Thailand, and sometimes the temperature is around 34-36 degree celsius, will that has an effect on my figurine?

I have been adding doujin goods lately and I have a question, e. g. this item ITEM #638764 (and a whole lot more) was made by its original creator; so does it really need the "doujin goods" classification? I know it's still made by a circle, not a manufacturer/company; but it's official, not "fan-made" in this case, isn't it?

Edit:

Another question; an origin which is originally french and has been translated to japanese is not allowed in the database, right? If the items linked to it were doujin goods and doujinshis?

Super simple question: do supporters have a limit to the items added to a list? My one list is creeping towards 300.

This may seem like a silly question, but are there any tips for finding bondage-themed figures to purchase? I've tried every combination of words I can think of on every search engine and seller I know (which is admittedly not a lot, open to suggestions), and all I ever seem to come up with is the same Super Sonico figure........which isn't even BDSM themed, I might add. >< Honestly, most of the reason it has taken me so long to consider getting invested in collecting figures is that I just can't figure out how to FIND the ones that might interest me! Also, whenever I do stumble across one by chance, it's on a Japanese website that doesn't ship to the US. <<

Honestly, this site right here may be your best bet, since figures have user-applied tags for all sorts of specific qualities you may be looking for.
It's an imperfect system exactly because tags are user-applied, so you sometimes end up with weird duplicate tags like "ballgag" and "ball_gag", or tags simply not being applied to all or even most relevant figures, but hey.

Some examples probably relevant to you:
Bondage
BDSM
Tied Up
Ballgag
Chains
Rope
Collar

This problem can be solved via proxies or forwarding services. I don't have a large amount of experience, so I'd recommend reading the MFC forums to pick a service for yourself. Proxies will go and buy the item for you (necessary if the shop won't accept a foreign CC/PayPal), and forwarding services receive the parcel on your behalf, and you do the ordering (cheaper, as you're doing most of the work yourself).

Though if you do find something, you could take a note of its name & manufacturer and see if it's on this site (where there might be sellers listed for it in the comments), or on other sites that do ship internationally.

Okay, this MAY count as a double question, as the second kinda depends on the first. ^_^; First, just how broadly does this site define "figures"? 'Cause I could use some help on both smaller things like figure accessories and large stuff like Soul of Chogokins.

Speaking of said Chogokins, Big O is getting re-released! Now seemingly being sold as "SOUL OF CHOGOKIN - GX-48K BIG O KUROGANE FINISH (FULL PACKAGE) - LIMITED EDITION", and it includes the accessories that were sold separately with the original release. Problem is, my main source for purchasing this stuff, www.bigbadtoyst... is selling him for a whopping $384.99! Yet I've seen numbers like $250 tossed around here and there, including the official site. One sale site using that price I didn't trust, and I'm also wary of Nippon Yason (which sells him for a decent price, but charges nearly $100 in shipping if you want him in less than THREE MONTHS!). I'm honestly not sure where my best option to get this guy is, and could really use some help. ^_^;

Figures, goods and media will be listed as long the country the company is from is Japanese. Yes, MFC has Soul of Chogokin figures listed.

If you are not 100% sure of a retail store, google customer feedback. Shipping prices, customer service etc. Have you purchase from Bigbadtoystore before?

I'm guessing it's this one ITEM #608820?
Since it's Premium Bandai exclusive, it's supposed to only be sold there, but a few sites such as Nippon Yasan, BiginJapan and BigBadToystore sometimes resell P-Bandai items, hence the higher prices.

Learned about Nippon just this past month! Had some trouble tracking down a pre-order of the upcoming Garo Figma......guess that was another premium exclusive. I ended up ordering it there, and did the same with Big O yesterday. This is the first I've heard of BiginJapan though, so I'll be sure to check that out! Would you recommend one over the other?

Sorry, took me a while to figure out what you meant by "MFC". New here, and to toy forums in general, still getting the hang of the lingo. XD

BBTS is actually one of my go-to sites! I have three items waiting to ship in the pike of loot now, just waiting on a fourth that somehow got moved from "4th quarter 2017" to "1st quarter 2018"; this despite the item already being shipped from other sites that carry it. Also, they DO have "Big O", but oddly enough the markup alone was more expensive than the going price AND shipping price from Nippon (the good shipping too, we're talking $50 plus). I understand supply and demand and that they have to jump a few hoops to get these, but an over $100 price jump? BEFORE shipping? I'm not too sure about the logistics involved, but that just seems like a bit much to me. I love BBTS for the convenience, but they've disappointed me a lot in the past few months, what with item delays, payment issues, and overpricing. Probably just bad timing that all those little annoyances hit back-to-back though, so I'll probably keep using them for some things going forward. I'll just be keeping a close eye on the price-tags for now.

Okay, first off, THANK YOU ALL! This thread is awesome, and I wish more forums had such places filled with such patient and helpful people! ^_^ Wish I could contribute more, but I'm JUST starting to move past "Transformers" and into collecting bigger figures......also, I'm rusty with forums, and my online etiquette is SO bad that I've accidentally started a few flame-wars! This place is good practice in the meantime though!

Anywho, while I can't participate in the answers department too much yet, I DO have several more questions I'd love answered. I'll ask them one at a time if that's okay, to avoid confusion.

Today's question: What news sites should I be looking to for info about upcoming figures? If figure a variety will be needed, as I'm MOSTLY curious about things like Figma and the new Revoltech series, but I'm also looking to get into the more adult NSFW collectibles. A few other news sites for collectors of more obscure Japanese toys would be cool too, and a forum or two wouldn't hurt.

P.S. I tried asking for suggestions over at Toyark, but my thread was almost IMMEDIATELY deleted, and I was told by the mods to go check google or ask friends on Twitter. I HAVE no friends into toy collecting, and Google has spent so much time collecting info on what I like that it now refuses to show me results I don't already frequent, or just shows me spam. Kinda peeved that a site dedicated to spreading news on toys bashes you for trying to ask for more news sources.......even if it IS sort of like walking into a Little Ceasars to ask for directions to the nearest Pizza Hut. ^_^; So yeah, not too pleased with that particular toy forum. Or Google, come to think of it.

Quick and likely DUMB question: how does the spoiler thing work in forum posts? For instance, when someone replies to one of my posts or quotes me, rather than showing my whole post in their response, it is collapsed with a "view spoiler" clickable to make it viewable. This cleans things up and saves on space. I've noticed this is a standard thing on just about every forum I visit. When I try to quote or reply to someone else, on the other hand, my post ends up showing their ENTIRE post, no collapse, no spoiler tags. In larger debate forums, this means I can be quoting and responding to MULTIPLE multi-paragraph mini-essays, all up on display, taking up a ton of room, and breaking the flow of the thread. Am I doing something wrong? Do they collapse on their own later? It's been YEARS since I was an avid forum user, so I have no idea how most of these functions work anymore.

When you need to use the Spoilers tag, select the bit of text you want to hide and then on the text formatting toolbar, click on the button that looks like a warning sign /!\
You can also achieve it manually by writing the tags "
" and "
" at the beginning and end of the section to hide. (without the spaces at the end, I added them so that the system does not consider it an actual tag)
