    Sugar1234 months ago#116562599You owe VAT on the shipping as well if the item costs more than 150 euros. Otherwise it's just the item.It really depends on the country (Slovenia - even if they don't need to, they always ask how much is the postage + price for a product up to €150).

    Lewty4 months ago#116563064That has absolutely nothing to do with IOSS, and I believe you're wrong in your statement.
    They're not getting away with anything, the IOSS explanatory notes state that it's the goods that are subject to tax, based on their intrinsic value, i.e the price of the goods themselves excluding transport and insurance costs a long as those are listed separately on the invoice.
    I do not believe this, or rather, this does not apply to our country, where in addition to the VAT of the product, the price of postage is always included.
    I agree with donslipo, because it has always been like this with my imports - outrageously expensive!

    Maybe it is setup this way on purpose, to encourage the adoption of IOSS? I would guess it is an easier process for customs if taxes are already pre-paid.
    IOSS site does not mention shipping fees, at least on a quick glance - taxation-custom... But if you declare and pay VAT yourself then yes, they tax shipping fee also (I'm guessing to outsmart "the item is free, buyer only pays shipping" schemes)

    You're assuming the same rules apply to both IOSS and self import, which according to the IOSS explanatory notes, is a wrong assumption.

    donslipo4 months ago#116563016Also note, that tax on orders over 150EUR cannot be paid by IOSS system, and calculating it must be handled by your countries customs.

    I have had orders over 150 euro on Amazon and paid the tax on Amazon.

    Now i don't know how everything exactly works but i know Amazon was collecting tax before this all was implemented in 2021

    donslipo4 months ago#116562975Nope.
    According to the "new" (2021) EU laws:
    up to 150EUR it's:
    Tax = (item value + shipping) * VAT%
    Over 150EUR it's
    Tax = ((item value + shipping) + duty) * VAT%
    (duty is around 4%)
    Not sure how companies are "getting away with" not including shipping in the calculations, but I bet EU will crack down on it at some point in the (far) future.

    I know, whenever i have to deal with customs in the Netherlands the shipping is taxed too.

    But on the other cases such as Amazon, please for the sake of my bank account. Be quiet, we are already paying way too much taxes here. Don't let them know it they can grab even more money which isn't theirs.

    Has anyone had half there parcel missing from zenmarket? Just received a 3 month parcel and half the items are missing but the invoice says that they should be in the parcel. I am so concerned as the total price comes to about £250 of missing goods. I do have faith in zenmarket as their customer service is so good but I can't help feeling concerned! Praying it's still in the warehouse.

    Is Zenmarket on holiday? They haven’t purchased any of my items for two days and I am unable to find any holiday notifications on their website or twitter. They have been confirming items for me though.

    Perfect, thank you for letting me know! I thought that was the case, but couldn’t find the article to confirm.

    Zenmarket is adding Mercari to their services “soon,” which is great for my wallet (no more Buyee!), but also horrible for my wallet (no more staying away from Mercari JP).

    That's great, thanks for sharing! (I did not get the news on that as I did not receive any email updates) I have 8,000 JPY credit in my Zenmarket account that has passed the time period for withdrawal and always thought the money would waste away. Now I will be able to get something nice on Mercari.

    They never sent an email update about this, but when you check out their website, there is now a Mercari tab with the words “SOON.”

    Haha I envy you! I’ll always find something to purchase if I have money in my wallet. It’s definitely a problem of mine.

    Purchased something through Mecari with zenmarket the day they opened up the option, still waiting for them to purchase the item. Hopefully won't be too much longer!

Hopefully won't be too much longer!I bought figures from one listing in Friday, and the order immediately changed status as bought. Same with an item from Amazon.

    The mercari item was by new seller (with 10+ reviews) with a notice that they're shipping the same day. Hope all items come to warehouse the same day.

    Damn that's lucky, it's usually about a day before zenmarket purchases anything for me, and this is the longest I've waited so far.
