I just ordered a figure from Amazon JP, sent to BIJ's address for their forwarding service. I haven't purchased the forwarding ticket yet because I'm unsure if it would be wiser to buy the standard ticket, or ask them to repackage my order. Amazon tends to send packages in whatever size box is most convenient, and for a scale, there's a decent chance the box will be oversized. Would it be worth the potential cost saved in shipping charges to have BIJ repack my order, even though it's only one item?
EDIT: I've decided to go with the repackaging option, just for my own peace of mind.

When I used their Forwarding Service for Surugaya I usually purchased the regular ticket and they let me know wether they would need to repack. They even told me to do so when I asked. I tend to mention it in the commentary in the order just to be sure though.

Ahh, this is very good advice, thank you! I already purchased the repackaging option, but in the future I'll probably just go with the standard option and leave a note.

For future reference, you can buy the standard ticket and ask them to repack in certain circumstances. Have done that myself, and they just add the repack charge onto the final fee should they choose to do so.

I want to use their proxy service to buy 3 items from 2 different mercari sellers.
Are the 500 yen basic fee per item or per seller or just for the whole proxy order?

Ok so I've been dealing with Big in Japan for some ten years now. Usually the service has been fine as in packages are shipped and and they undervalue for EU customers which is nice. There was one or two times where I wanted to cancel an order but they are super strict on it even in unusual circumstances. Harsh but fair enough.

Anyway suddenly having trouble with them and their customer service is being extremely rude about it.

Since last April Japan post stopped shipping packages to Ireland in the EU and have yet to restart the service. Anyway Big IN Japan offered to hold onto the packages until the post service restarted but by December it was still not working so they told me they were going to ship all my packages (some 28 boxes). I said that seeing as I had already paid for airmail or EMS for those orders could they refund me the extra money as they going to be using a much cheaper service. They offered me 28,000yen in credit to cover the savings I would make with seamail. I said great and then things started to go wrong.

First off they suddenly shipped a figure (Saber Alter Kimono ver) that came into stock and took the outstanding fees from the store credit. Problem is they charged my credit 6,600yen for shipping which was the same rate for EMS that I had originally pre-ordered for. A bunch of other figures came into stock around then that I paid for. When I checked the invoices it said airmail and the rates matched so I assumed they would hold onto the packages or refund me later. But then they just shipped them.

Anyway I've gone back to them asking for a refund also on the shipping for them as well. I didn't think it would be a problem as they had already done it for my other orders but instead suddenly I get them refusing to give me any money back and that the shipping rates are accurate. New requests for payment have appeared but again the shipping rates are exactly the same as when I pre-ordered them.

I've been trying to explain to them but instead they're treating my store credit as a free gift?? Apparently I got a "Free" figure with "Free" shipping. >_<

Anyway I will continue to try get my money returned but might have to transfer my orders elsewhere and stop using BIJ which is an awful shame and makes zero sense in that they are not loosing any money just returning money they didn't need to ship my order.

Has anybody else had similar problems with BIJ?
