    Some figures I would love to see would be:

    - A scale of Siege's E2 art. It's just the coolest thing to me!

    - A Nendroid for Jessica. Imagine how adorable she would look!

    - A scale of Arene's E2 art. He's one of my personal favourites so I hope that one day I'll get to have a 3d version of him!

    - A scale of Texas 'Willpower' skin. She looks so good in it!

    I personally would LOVE a figure of Dobermann, Matoimaru or Nearl!
    I saw earlier today that they were selling clear posters of Texas' Willpower skin and W's Fugue skin but none of Dobermann's Lieutenant skin which bums me out :(
    Also, I think Platinum would make a gorgeous 1/7 scale figure. Maybe some day!

    Phantom is #1 on my wishlist. Both his E2 and skin art would look amazing as figures and would probably have a hefty price tag, but a nendo would be great already.

    Mostima E2 as figure would definitely be a center piece. Her skin would also look great and is probably more realistic.

    Would definitely consider scales for SA, Weedy, Elysium, Thorns, Dusk and some others depending on chosen art and execution. While I'm not going for the E2 Skadi, Skadi Alter could be a maybe as well. I hope we get more male scales, Hellagur seems to be getting one with that anniversary artwork, but not the biggest fan of neither him nor the artwork.

    I prefer E2/skin art over E0 art for scales, for a more dynamic and/or interesting pose and the potential background elements/bases. I can definitely see tho why they are going for E0 with some characters as the E2 art can be dependent on big background elements like the aforementioned Mostima E2 which would make the cost insane.

    For nendos, there are a few more I'd consider, including Blaze where the base art scale didn't convince for the price.

    It's amazing, that everyone here seems to want scale figures from different operators.
    although, I agree that we really need a Weedy figure.
    The other operators on my wishlist are a bit different:
    I would love to see a Rosa, and/or Rosmontis figure. However, I am afraid that will never happen, while those operators seems quite hard to change into figures, if you want to be faithfull to the art.

    Another Operator, who I think would be amazing is Nightingale, using her E2 art. That would really be a masterpiece.

    I will probably never buy a figure of Nearl, Dobermann, or Arene. I think these Operators are just to ordinary.

    Nonetheless, if the figure is done nicely, I may be interested in some other operators like phantom, mostima, thorns, and platinum (summer skin).

    They showed some shadows of figures, of operators in gala outfit, however I am not really interested in buying those, I would rather have their E0, or E2 art. Would you buy any of the gala figures?

    Yeah, everyone seems to have different favourites! But thats part of the charm for gacha games, isn't it? The gala figures are made by a company I've never heard of, so I won't preorder them and will wait for the aftermarket. Schwarz and Hellagur are some of my other favourites, so I hope they will turn out well! I sadly don't have Rosa yet, but her design is fantastic so a figure of her would be pretty cool. Phantom and Platinum would make for pretty neat figures too.

    I'd definitely get a Rosmontis nendo, but I see the problems with a scale for her. I guess if you stick the pillars into the ground you could save a lot of support poles, but it would still increase the price a bunch.

    Won't get the gala figures as I don't care too much for any of the characters and the artwork isn't my favorite either. I'm not against them exploring figures outside of ingame art, but in this case it doesn't work out for me.

    One thing that this thread probably can agree on is that Skade makes amazing art (artist of Phantom, Nightingale, Platinum etc) :D Even though the E2 art has some drawbacks regarding figures as the background elements are often too important to be left out.

    I wonder when the next scale will be announced. Nendos will probably take a bit of a break due to the big batch for 2nd anni. I guess there won't be a scale next week as that would've been thrown onto the anni stream, but CN wonfes is 13-14th June, so that could be promising!

    Official CN website, google translate is our friend :') it's wonfes Shanghai in June and wonfes Beijing in November, so summer+winter like the JP wonfes...es

    [NSFW warning for some figures in the article]
    News rundown from last year, Eyja's nendo and the scales for Chen and Lappland were announced there, so we can definitely hope. Maybe something new from Apex? Blaze is releasing this month iirc, so it would be just in time :> And potentially painted prototypes for (some of) the new nendos.

    Scrolling through the list of companies, I saw a ton of really big names. Seems like the majority of the relevant japanese companies are participating. A lot of memorable chinese names too. Also some toy companies. Only ones missing are Alter(who haven't really attended any significant events since the start of the pandemic) and Native(it's China, so that's kind of a given). A few of those companies have AK figures in the making, announced or on preorder, so we can probably expect some news. I also see a handful of other companies that make a lot of gacha game figures, or even have licenses for other Yostar properties(namely Azur Lane). We should keep our eyes peeled for announcements from companies who have newly aquired the license for AK.

    Quite interesting how big the variance in the respective preferences for scales and Nendroids is.

    I am a very big fan of the Abyssal Hunters. Originally Skadi, of whom I would really like to have the figure, was my favorite operator alongside Specter, but now Gladiia is my new favorite with Specter in second place and Skadi in shared third with Mudrock.

    As for what figures I would really like to see realized as scales the most, I would have to go with the characters mentioned above in the exact order as given. Although, on second thought, I would probably like to have a figure of Mudrock and a figure of Specter the most followed by one for Gladiia and Surtr respectively. Based on the current popularity polls and the preferences of the player base when it comes to promoting operators it does not seem too far fetched that the aforementioned operators will see some realization as scales in the future. I am just unable to imagine what their respective scales would look like. I suppose Mudrock would be shown in her E2 art but probably without the background, since that would drastically increase her price. As for specter, a figure including the sharks in the background of her E2 art would be a dream come true, but also highly unlikely, since Skadi did not get the same Background treatment. I think the only backgrounds to be realized in a reasonable price range are along the line of what Exusiai has gotten in her scale.

    As for what can be expected: Past releases seem to indicate that mostly female characters that are favored by the player base can expect to get a scale. I am not aware of the entire popularity history of the operators, but from my viewpoint pretty much all the scales released so far could be traced back to the most promoted female operators, which is probably the most sensible metric for popularity in a gacha game.

    I am interested to hear your thoughts on what operators are likely to see a figure.

    Best regards

    Oh yeah, I love discussing this topic!
    Indeed, we only have scales of female operators so far. I think that this has two reasons. The first is HGs data on the popularity of certain operators. You mentioned that most of the ops in in the top 10 from the stream were girls. And it's true that AKs female ops are more popular. But E2s are also based on usefulness and availability of an op. So I think that better ways to gauge popularity would be through official popularity pulls. Another method that I know Azur Lane uses is to record how often certain skins are bought. This gives accurate data on what characters people are willing to spend actual money on. The sales and demand for other types of merchandise(be it official or doujin) is also more accurate.
    The other reason is that the scale figure industry as a whole is dominated by female figures. For the longest time, female fans were severely underestimated by most companies. In fact most manufacturers still do. GSC is one of the few companies rhat has an accurate assessment of female fans buying power if you ask me. There were a ton more male nendos made in the last few years. Orange Rouge, a collaboration between GSC and Max Factory , was made to specifically cater to female audiences. Other companies like Alter, Bandai and Kotobukiya(who already holds the AK license) have also started making more male figures.
    This change only started maybe four years ago. For now, most franchises get female figures first, with male figures being made later and rarer. AK has a very big female following already. I think it's only a matter of time before we get announcements for male characters. I wouldn't be surprised at all if fan-favourite operators like Silverash, Thorns, Hung or Phantom were announced soon. Most likely by GSC, OR or Koto. In fact, two of them have nendos already. And according to translations of the stream, a Hellagur figure based on the anniversary artwork will be made.

    P.S.: I can totally see a Specter figure being made in the near future!

    [wall of text warning]

    The CN popularity poll just came in fresh for our figure talks!
    Link to reddit thread as that has both the video link and a comment with all placements written.

    I decided to write down the top 50 with past placements and note down the figures if the char has any. Since for figure production license talks to prototype can take months or years, past popularity is important as well. And while the design for new units is finished well before they are released, it's likely they want to gauge their popularity first. Most figures so far have been for units close to the launch window or for units that were in the story before (like W and Kal'tsit).

    The gala art was released a year ago, Thorns got released ~8 months ago before the nendo announcement. So these are probably the timeframes we should expect from release to announcements, even for very popular new units if they weren't featured in the story beforehand. Ofc exceptions are always possible.

    This poll isn't the end all be all (new releases get hyped a lot, including skin releases bumping some units up) and there are many factors going into figure releases, but it gives us the best understanding about popularity in the dedicated CN community which is likely the main target for figures and other merch.

    Promoted units etc are often hard to distinguish between people liking the actual character and using them for their strength. If I pull Surtr, I'm E2 S3M3ing her asap because she's broken, but I wouldn't buy a figure for her because I don't care much for both her design and character.

    In () are the previous placements. Poll is made every 4ish months.

    50 Zima (24->37->43->44->50)
    49 Blitz (new)
    48 Weedy (35->41->40->48)

    24 Mountain (13->24)
    23 Hoshiguma (7->17->13->18->21->23)
    22 Dusk (new)
    21 Passenger (new)
    20 Saga (new)
    19 Elysium (36->19->17->19)
    18 Angelina (10->14->17->15->19->18)

    13 Mostima (16->11->12->10->13) nendo
    12 Eyja (8->7->10->13->11->12) scale + nendo
    11 Phantom (8->7->6->11)
    10 Surtr (8->10)

    6 Lappland (3->2->2->3->4->6) scale + nendo
    5 Skadi/Skalter (6->6->9->9->14->5) scale + nendo
    4 SilverAsh (2->2->3->2->3->4) nendo
    3 Thorns (4->2->3) nendo
    2 Kal'tsit (new) nendo
    1 Exia (unbeaten queen of the poll) scale + nendo

    Most in the Top 30 dropped a few spots to make room for the new hype units. Seeing Phantom out of Top 10 hurts a bit tho :')

    Surprised to see Passenger on rank 21 as he released way underpowered, so they either really screwed up by making him this weak as VA+Artist combo still make him decently popular...or he's popular because of memes shitting on him :'D

    Male units are getting the short end of the stick for figures, a lot of them are post-launch units tho tbf. SA is probably the big loser here in terms of scales :'D Male units perform pretty well, going against the mindeset some still have that gachas need to be waifu-focused (even though Genshin is the better example for that if you look at banner grossings). As Nattie explained, figure companies (like most gachas actually) focused mainly on waifuism in the past and only have started recently to strip straight women (and other people into men or simply liking figures of any gender) of their hard earned cash.

    With release dates of the operators + likely time of licensing talks in mind, the poll correlates to figure releases decently well, most figures actually fall in the current Top 20 with ths outliers being:
    Skyfire (27->45->60->84->102->113) was probably licensed around or before launch so her popularity was a gamble. The gamble wasn't completely off with her first placement, but she's rather non-meta, but other non-meta units like Flamebringer are still higher up in popularity. Feels like some favoritism was in play x)

    The gala scales are a bit of an odd mix regarding popularity. W is high, Schwarz is decent, Hellagur started strong but lost ground, Eunectes (35->53->55) had a relatively weak start for a new 6* and settling just outside Top 50. For the two story units, Ines is decently popular and highly requested as a unit, while Lin Yuhxia isn't talked about much in EN, no idea about CN.

    Going with this, I predict Angelina to either get a scale for her skin or a nendo in the next batch. Ifrit and Hoshi are also holding onto their launch popularity very well and an Ifrit nendo just seems too fitting to be passed up. My biggest wish is still anything for Phantom x)

    Potential leak for a figure

    View spoilerHide spoilerI might've not been completely off about Hoshi in my prediction x)

    This potential leak or smth about a FNex Hoshi (skin) scale popped up on weibo a few days ago. It looks too good to be fake imo, but I couldn't find info yet on the official channels yet, so I assume it was smth like a leak, an accident, announced at some sort of CN event that hasn't been convered on the official accounts yet, etc. Ofc take with a grain of salt, this could be a godly fake after all.

    Kinda assumed they'd go for the skin if they do a Hoshi scale, as her E2 is very dependent on the Oni (which is omitted for this figure as well) and E0/E1 art scales have been the minority so far.

    The leak says F:Nex which is Furyu's scale figure line.

    The pictures are missing any company watermarks which is kinda sus, but the choice of background and picture quality are very convincing. There is only a watermark from the leaker in the spot where the company watermark should be. You can also tell that it's not photoshopped but a photo of an actual real figure. There are few people with this level of professional skill in terms of sculpting and painting outside of the industry or GK circles.
    Additionally F:Nex has held the Azur Lane license for over a year and produces a lot of figures from gacha games in general. This is why they are on my list of companies that I think will license AK in the future.

    All things considered the origin of this leak is very shady, but the picture is most certainly real.

    Figure now has an entry here ITEM #1198323, on hpoi and on myanimeshelf, pictures are the same as the leaked ones (either from another/the original source or downloaded without watermark from weibo) and no additional info like price.

    Nattie1 month ago#96565535snip
    For the watermarks, FNex shop pictures don't have them and the weibo watermark is automatic. It's overall really shady, but a lot of leaks are I guess. The quality looks very convincing, and FNex picking up the Arknights license is definitely realistic as you said.

    In the end we'll just have to wait and see if/when Furyu officially announces the figure, which might come earlier now, seeing it's now up on all the big figure sites and has drawn quite a good amount of attention on hpoi.
