I've just recently started collecting seriously, and I've spent quite a bit if time finding must have figures for myself. But since I have a job. I literally miss out on everything. Alot of what I look for has already been released. I troll the ami ami pre owned on my breaks, find a grail. Throw it in my cart and have to return to work. Only to find it gone by the time I can get back to it.
A couple days ago I got info that Native was doing a wearhouse sale on Vanilla and Choco BINDing 1/4. I made my self late for work to get the drop was there at the turn of the hour and the site literally crashed with the traffic. After 1 hour of refreshing and going through the order process it I finally get it in my cart get through the payment option submission and it 504 times out. By the time it comes around everything is gone.

Another figure I want was sold for $70 new. Now you can only find her for 300+ this hobby causes more stress than it's worth lately. I. Sorry I just needed to rant.

Yes and no. If you want to go for older figures that were already released months or years ago, then the hunt can certainly get frustrating, time-consuming and expensive. But all kinds of new figures are getting announced and released all the time and preordering is scarily easy.

I've been collecting figures on and off since the mid-2000s, but the market has undergone some huge changes within the past few years. Interest in figures has climbed, but the risk of prevalence of bootlegs has too. It used to be fairly easy to find authentic second hand figures on various auction sites like ebay, but now it's become overrun with bootlegs, making it hard to find good deals on legitimate figures. When one does show up, it quickly gets bid out of my price range. As a result, the number of figures I've purchased over the past couple of years has plummeted while my level of frustration has skyrocketed.

I'm strongly considering giving up on collecting further figures, and accepting that I will need to be satisfied with the ones I've got.

I've sort of settled on the idea that I'll only ever get what I preorder. If I happen to catch something in the pre-owned in an otherwise light month that's just a nice bonus. I feel this is a better way to go.

I know exactly what you mean ... and yes, sometimes its frustrating but some others is refreshing. I can TOTALLY help you out looking for old ones if you let me know what you are loking for as I´m always looking for figures new/old in a lot of sites because I kinda have and obsession with figures lol. Yeah, there will be times when NO figures can be found but with time - maybe- someone is selling and for a good price.

Sure, DM and I can look for it if you´re short of time and I help you find them.
