i love figures that have short hair. rei ayanami was one of the first anime characters i ever really liked, so it almost imprinted that on me. when i buy a character who doesn't have short hair, it has to be because i really really like the character (as in their personality in the anime/manga, for example konata izumi) or because of nostalgia (recognize that character from when i was younger) or that the artist made a a really cool character design.

i actually like figures with big boobs or nudity as well. i find a lot of the figures "aimed at guys" to be very attractive to me. i'm bi and i just feel like i can appreciate sexy figures of any gender :3 i like androgynous characters a lot too, like chrona from soul eater.

seems i'm in the minority and that a lot of girls don't like the ecchi and hentai figures. i can understand why, but to me they can be very appealing ^^

Well I do dislike collecting booby figures. I like my girls to be pretty but at least decent.
The only exception to this is Queen's Blade... I like way too many of the characters in that show so I end up not caring about their bust size. Like Melona... Her design is so erotic but I like her actual character and the fact that she's a cute but evil villain. XD
Overall though, I avoid any "sexified" figures of characters I like. Sometimes the disproportions kill the figure entirely for me.

The same goes for boys. If the anatomy sucks I don't think I want it at all.
Faces also matter A LOT for me. If the face isn't good then I'll be really mad. :(

i completely agree about the face. if (i think) that face is bad, i almost definitely would not buy it, even if the rest of the sculpt and paint was good.

it does feel like male figures suffer from this especially, which is disappointing.

Honestly, I'm into the more risque figures, but I tend not to buy them because as a heterosexual girl I wonder what a lot of my friends not to mention the guys I fancy would think if they saw them. I don't usually buy figures if I'm unsure of the who the character is but character I like or not if the design of the figure is bad purchasing it is a no-go.

As for male figures I really wish there were more, especially since a lot of the male figures come out just dont hold up to the standards of the many female figures.

I buy figure because of the character, not because of the design because otherwise I'd be out of money x)
    I don't mind about more male figures~
Oh and I do feel awkward if I buy some figure with skirt that can be removed and stuff like that...
I would like it if it was directed for both genders!
    I don't wanna see Miku's panties :P
What I like in figure is well they're cute, I like building collection of things so figures are really nice for that.
What I dislike is figures with big boobs.

I only buy figures of characters I really, really love, so I buy for the character, rather than design. Although it doesn't hurt if it looks gorgeous. XD

I buy figures that I think are cute and have nice quality. It doesn't bother me to buy figures with barely any clothing or large breasts (though I think it confuses my mother...) In fact, I love beach queens just because of how nice the bodies are. For me, it doesn't really have to be my favorite character (though that helps) as long as they really portray the character well.

I like to buy figures of my favorite characters and ones with good designs. It really annoys me that like 90% of figures are female.I really wish they would think more of the female collectors out there and make more males.I can't stand characters that have extremely large breasts to the point were it's just ridiculous.I don't mind figures with large breasts as long as they're not so big to the point were it just makes the character look odd.

Minzuki\I can't stand characters that have extremely large breasts to the point were it's just ridiculous

    Cattleya.

    :D

Seriously though... as a woman who appreciates fuller-figured women, I wish they'd make figures a bit more realistic in body shape. I mean come on... you can't have boobs that big without some junk in the trunk and some belly sticking out a little. I would LOVE a figure of Arima Senne, for example... she's my ideal 2D woman. <3

Generally, I buy for design. If it's a character I love it's a bonus, and I won't buy figures of characters I despise (which is why I don't own any Mikuru figs no matter how cute they are because god would that series have been better without Mikuru), but I'll buy figures from series I don't know because of the design. I'm currently lusting after a Yotsunoha figure because OMG EVERYTHING I EVER WANTED but no money. :<

I have to say I like figures that catches my attention. I'm quite selective, because not always I have the money to get them lol.
Figures that I dislike? Maybe those Ecchi figures and thw Hatsune Miku ones... they are kinda annoying to me.

I'm not into ero figures. I appreciate the clothing in figures, and love ruffles/ribbons/etc, something that you often lose when displaying ero/cast off figures.
(When ITEM #103161 & ITEM #98882 arrive, they'll be the most suggestive figures I own...)
    I'm more into DFC/tsurupettan/flat chests :3
I would have to LOVE/adore/waifu a character to buy any figures that have an extremely blatant chest.

Not interested in many male figures honestly, as my favorite guys generally lack the flowing hair that I adore on a figure. I do appreciate a few though~ (ITEM #50598 will be my first male figure in a very long while.)

As for likes, I seem to have a penchant for lolis and magical girls. "Moe" things in particular seem to be my thing...

I only collect fullscale figures that are favorites of mine. My boyfriend however does collect some less dressed fullscale figures and I'm fine with that but I feel a little awkward buying those myself. They don't come off as appealing to me. I don't think I could buy a male figure that way either, unless there was something else to it.

I only just started collecting, but I would never buy figures with unrealistically large breasts (to the point where it just doesn't look right) - I honestly don't understand how that appeals to people. >_> My attention is focused mostly on male figures, but I will look into a female figure if it's a character I really like (unless they're wearing a bikini or something like that, that's a deal breaker for me...).

I like figures that have quality and are unique. I look at the sculpt and try to think whether or not the figure is appealing to me. I usually only buy nowadays pre-painted statues and generally stay away from action figures/nendoroids. I have to admit- I do like ero figures, but the majority are from Native. Native really makes some tasteful erotic figures and I appreciate them very much. Some of them have such realistic bodies- you can see how soft and plump the curves are and I just love that! I sound like a wierdo, but I don't look at them in a sexual way.
I don't really have much of a hate for anything on a figure. If I don't like how it looks- I don't bother with it.
I usually feel more sentimental towards figures that are of characters I know and love. Although, I like many that I absolutely love that are of characters unknown to me. I am not rich so I try to save up as much as I can for all of them and I am currently job hunting. I don't really mind.

How I feel about male figures...I don't have much of them. I wish they made male figures more eye-catching and interesting because most are not to my fancy. I think it would be nice to have more decent male figures...I wish I could find a nice figure of Guts from Berserk. One that makes him look awesome! Or a figure of Mugen from Samurai Champloo would be awesome too!

Ah, sorry....I wrote too much >.<

I agree, if I was into ero figures, I would be all over Native's offerings. (Like this girl, for instance. ITEM #27739)
    Now that I think about it, I guess if the figure is as soft looking, and has as good of hair sculpt as Chie, then I wouldn't mind missing out on the clothing XD;;

As for the 'not so tasteful ero figures' though, Giga Pulse's figures are just too much (; ̄д ̄)

Native's figures are very impressive and the amount of quality and detail is amazing. They are pieces of art- each of them- no doubt. It's strange because even people who don't like erotic figures seem to appreciate Native's figures (As you said) xD
Chie is very nicely done. One that really blew me away with how realistic it looked in photos was Collet ITEM #13819. I really fell inlove with this figure after seeing these photos of her. The photographer really captured her shape: picture/58846&a... and picture/58845&a....

I agree, Giga Pulse's figures isn't as tasteful...
They have a few okay ones though.

This is just proof that there needs to be more figures based on Ishikei's artwork. ♥u♥

What I like: good design all-around. I recently ordered ITEM #25218 because I think its all-around gorgeous, but I've never seen a single episode of BRS and never plan to. For characters I like, I look at the various figures available and narrow it down to what I like design-wise while embodying what I like about the character. Example: I put up a long hunt to find a pre-timeleap Sanji figure that includes his trademark cigarette. lol

What I dislike: When a figure looks good on paper but is flawed in its final product. Example: I'd love to have ITEM #61558 and ITEM #61559 but I've seen them up close at NYCC and... the paint job is lacking... T_T

I'm most into having my favourite characters, but i'll only buy their figures if they have a peppy/bright/cute design (unless I just LOVE a girl so much that I'm willing to put up with her out of place gothness ITEM #549472
    I really like stylized figures that are uniquely sculpted/are true to the animastion style of the anime, and more "illustrated" type sculpts, though these rarely are of my faves and cost a lot ;m;
I'm pretty particular about faces too so if I don't think the face has enough personality (*cough* nendoroids) or style then I probably won't buy it.

    Dislikes:
overly skimpy, "sexy" or unnatural poses, and although I like beach outfits I usually hate the lame bathing suits they put my girls in. I will make exceptions for sonico tho
TBH I really don't care about male figures either cause boys just aint that pretty! lol. But mostly sculptors usually want to preserve the ~masculinity~ of those dudes so they're not getting nice outfits or poses. /points at all the haikyuu & sports anime that just stick to basic matching uniforms, points to all the shounen protags in generic battle/stoic poses. also points to all the grumpy constipated faces they use for dudes. wheres my anime boys going :D ???

Anyways I just prefer my figure girls to be their natural cute selves!
    Cute girl magic, activate! ✨✨

I like cute aesthetics! My other collections are things like My Little Pony, dolls, Shopkins, Care Bears... all sorts of cute things, so that extends into my figure collecting. Some specific traits I like.... good hair sculpts, unique bases (I specifically watched the source material for ITEM #604614 for an excuse to own it since I like the base so much), color schemes I like. Frilly outfits are always a plus!

Dislikes... I dislike solid colored figures quite a lot. ITEM #680785 and its alternate version, ITEM #680787, even ignoring the outrageous price, is ugly as sin due to it being one solid color. And the fact that we got these ugly overpriced pieces of gold and silver instead of actual scale figures for the franchise's 20th anniversary really legit pisses me off. I hate these things with a passion lmao. Translucent trading figures like some of the ones Di Gi Charat (like ITEM #752415) and A Little Snow Fairy Sugar (like ITEM #679950) got are also super ugly and in the case of the latter ones, kind of terrifying in how they made them translucent but also in different colors. Can't say I have any sort of desire to own these.

What else... garage kits don't really appeal to me. I like drawing and creativity and I do like the concept of figures you put together and paint yourself, but at the moment a figure only being available in garage kit form means I won't be going after it any time soon, because I'd be afraid of just doing an absolute crap painting job. Items like ITEM #131580, ITEM #73982, and especially ITEM #416507 are ones I'd be all over if they existed in prepainted forms, but since they don't, I'm not interested in getting them at this time. I'd mostly be afraid of doing a poor painting job on their faces. Maybe someday, but certainly not any time soon. If I were to see people listing ones they already painted themselves so I wouldn't have to do it, maybe I'd consider.

I collect cute girls mostly! I tend to gravitate towards soft features and girls that cute rather than sexy. I don't really feel any particular way about ero figures, I've never wanted one but I don't dislike them. I also really like figures with interesting bases or if the figure can sit without a base entirely. Figures like ITEM #587912 or ITEM #700360 are the kind I really like. I usually collect figures of characters I know but if a figure is totally my taste I'll buy her anyway like ITEM #113211.

As for things I'm totally not into I really don't care for action figures aside from Nendoroids. Figmas are way too small for my taste and I don't really care about being able to pose figures however I want. I do a lot of figure photography and I find prepainted figures to be way more photogenic :p I also usually don't like figures of boys. As others have said they're usually in boring poses and outfits and there's not a lot of middle ground between figures for boys and figures for fujoshis. I'm content with my almost entirely bishoujo collection.
