Here too, personal experience, Parcelforce. But I'm sure I've seen a post, someone saying theirs was delivered by RoyalMail.

I have a parcel which, according to Royal Mail tracking, is at 'In recipient PO box' since last week. Does that mean that it is being held for customs charges? I haven't received a silver card, but it wouldn't be the first time my customs letter/card has gone missing. Up until now, it's only been stuff handled by Parcelforce that I've had to call them up for though, so I'm not sure what number to call about this? Does anyone know?

I'm also a bit confused bc according to Japan Post tracking, it's only been dispatched from Langley HWDC. Usually if it's being held for customs charges, it says 'Retention'. I'm not sure if it really matters though.

How do I know who to call if that's the case, since I'm pretty sure my silver card is just plain missing by now?

For me it has always been the nearest post depot (wherever you usually pick up any Royal Mail packages). If you go there they can look it up for you and you can usually pay there too.

Ah, okay then, thanks for the info! The depot's a bit far from me so I was hoping to avoid having to go there, but oh well.

Yep, customs charges. Either I get that or just the grey slip turning up.

So I don't usually ship via EMS but had to due to weight I believe, parcel got sent on the 3rd of March entered the UK on the 5th and has been stuck in "Presented to Customs for inspection" since, anyone else ever had customs take 5 days to check things out, not sure what would be taking so long for 3 bottles of cola, a mercy nendoroid and a MG Gelgoog, maybe they building the Gelgood and painting it for me ^^

Come on Parcel farce get your stuff together I'm going to end up paying a customs fee anyway so make it snappy .-.

Haha, Parcelforce... not a snowball's chance in hell of snappiness. Am also waiting on PF to get a customs payment slip to me atm. Mine entered on the 6th, hoping the slip will turn up next week, though I might try botherin' them on Twitter.

Aha I know, did your by chance get stuck on Awaiting customs clearance too or are you just waiting for the letter, I don't think mines even got that far yet, what a waste now point at all shipping via EMS ever might as well use fedex and such if it needs insuring :/

Mine has had the charges raised today, talked to PF on twitter, and they can't give me the code until the parcel is at the local depot.

The SAL small packet I ordered on the same day is currently waiting for me at home... Sigh.

EMS is supposed to be faster. Yes the parcel gets to the UK faster but then takes forever to get to us >>

You could try calling PF, thats what I did when I had to ship a parcel by EMS (never again though). I called up and the first person said they couldn't give me the custom fee amount and I had to wait till I recieved the slip to pay. But I had paid by phone before so I called them up the next day and asked again, it was a different person and they told me the amount and let me pay over the phone.

They're not refusing to give me the code, but it should be available on the parcel's next update. But that might be tomorrow or the day after. Was sorta hoping I could pay today so I could pick Wednesday, ah well.

Not in a super-rush for the stuff, but it is >< when I get my SAL parcel first.

I used DHL for an amazon.co.jp package recently. I paid the VAT charge with amazon and then DHL delivered with no stupid """handling fee""" nonsense like royal mail and PF do. It took 5 days to arrive :/

Paying the VAT upfront is definitely the best route as royal mail seem to be really on point right now. Parcelforce is pretty much 100% always.

I'd not use DHL otherwise as every quote I've seen for it was way more costly that EMS and I'd expect DHL to be right on point charging you VAT and their own handling fee.
