Hmm, I was wondering about that as well.

    You mean like this?: browse.v4.php?m...

I searched Riko Sakurauchi and clicked diaporama at the top.

Oh, I guess it doesn't work with the quick search then? Thanks for your help.

TheKillerAngel (2 months ago) #60554447I really believe that the rules concerning the Japanese origin of figures should be relaxed a bit. Anime culture has become a lot more international in the past couple years and it's a bit silly that Chinese anime-style figures are not permitted but Western superhero figures are just because they're made by a Japanese manufacturer.

agentmozell (2 months ago) #60559508Second this! Especially since Mytheos works with GSC to create some beautiful figures.
    Thirded.

The rule is outdated and excludes a lot of figures that I'd argue would perfectly fit within the database. Myethos figures are pretty popular among the userbase but the majority of it can't be added because of the current rules in place. Also Azur Lane figures can't be added if they're made by a non-Japanese company, while it is one of the most popular mobages worldwide and many people are eager to see figures of it. MFC is not only a tool to manage your collection, but also to get fast and reliable updates on figure announcements you're interested in, and with the current rules MFC failes on this part.

Here is my proposal for a rule change to the figure database. It currently is:

Japanese origin AND Japanese manufacturer = OK

Japanese origin AND Non Japanese manufacturer = OK

Non Japanese origin AND Japanese manufacturer = OK

Non Japanese origin AND Non Japanese manufacturer = NO

    I would change it to:

Japanese origin AND Japanese manufacturer = OK

Japanese origin AND Non Japanese manufacturer = OK

Non Japanese origin AND Japanese manufacturer = OK

Non Japanese origin AND significantly incorporates anime culture = OK

Non Japanese origin AND Non Japanese manufacturer = NO

I think this is still in keeping with the mission statement of the site, which is:

Founded in April 2008, MyFigureCollection.net (aka. MFC) is a community website for Japanese pop-culture (anime, manga, video-games, etc.)
goods (figures, artbooks, CDs, cups, collectibles, dakimakura, etc.) collectors.

The fact is, a lot of Chinese made figures and games get enough attention from Japanese to be considered part of anime culture. The current rules miss the forest for the trees.

Strongly agree that the existing rules go against our stated goal of documenting J Pop Culture. Since "significantly incorporates" is subjective and open to endless debates, I would change that to "has Japanese adaptation" or "has Japanese adaptation and/or servers".

While ultimately, I too would like to see the rules relaxed a bit, it's fairly unlikely at this point. So in that vein, I'd like to suggest that Picture of the Day/Week/Month be required to be linked to a figure that exists in the database. This would prevent a picture of one of these figures (like the current White Rabbit by Myethos) which are not allowed in the database from becoming POD and confusing people since the pictures are allowed to be uploaded, but figure is not allowed in the database. It would also be helpful for people that like the POD to easily access the figure's page if they do not know the character already.

What makes it unlikely at this point?

The fact that this argument and people begging for Myethos figures to be allowed on the site has been going on for several years, and the answer is always no.

I would like to see a feature implemented that allows you to order the figures in your collection to your preference (like a drag & drop system). The current 3 options don't really do it for me, as sorting by popularity will result to the same figures always being at the top (I have quite some figures that have been out for a while that are widely popular, but they are not neccessarily my faves), random is a no because I don't really want to see trading figs in a prominent place if only temporarily, I have my collection set to addition date now but that's also not ideal. My ideal sorting would be by 'set', in which a set is either figures from the same franchise by the same company or just figures that I have paired together. Of course this is subjective so the ideal solution for me would be to be able to manually sort my figures.

Would it ever be feasible to make periodical dumps of the database available publicly, and if so, would you consider it? If it's available somewhere, I hope somebody can point me to it, as I would like to research it.

    Thank you!

In the my collection area, would it be possible to status figures as "owned previously" or "no longer have" or something similar so i can remember what figures i have purchased in the past but no longer have?

That's not possible. It's also not possible to whishlist a figure you already have, although it's not unheard of to want a second example of a particular figure.

What you can do however is create a list to which you can link any item of your choice.

I am unable to link pictures to relevant clubs that I am in. When I try to use the link function, it asks for keywords to search for clubs and regardless of what I input, no clubs come up, even if my keywords are the exact club name. Other members of the same clubs are able to link pictures, but I am not. I have tried searching the FAQ, this forum, and even became a supporter. Nothing has worked and the EMAIL contact link doesn't lead anywhere. Any advice?

As far as I know, only those with mod and admin status in that club can link items and pictures to the club.

BloodFlower (6 days ago) #65388746As far as I know, only those with mod and admin status in that club can link items and pictures to the club. That appears to be the reason. Photos that are linked in the club are not uploaded by admin/mods of the club, which confused me, but it looks like the admin is linking them on their own time. Thanks for the reply!
